This journal is to track my progress throughout 2009 as I take presently oblivious characters through hell and back and attempt to destroy the Earth. By the time 2010 is upon us even gravity will be so giddy that it'll be working in reverse. So hang on tight if you want to endure this wicked roller coaster ride through what is destined to be the next best year the world has ever faced.

Admittedly, I'm not very good at remembering to update this. So I'll try to summarise November quickly before moving on to December. I should probably add updating this once a week to my New Year's resolutions. My list is now one item long, huzzah~!

So, November: I finished Prince Charming with 83,074 words at 2am on the 29/11. I like how the novel turned out, but I know I'll change my mind when I get around to reading it over in the summertime. But for now I'm satisfied with the outcome of the first draft. Besides breaking my record for the fastest time it's taken me to write a single novel — 29 days, down from a month and 3 days — it's also the only sequel I've ever completed. Usually when I attempt a second book I give up part way, so I'm really pleased with this accomplishment.

Also, during November I finished my NaNoWriYe '09 goal of 500,000 words. I hit this figure on the 5th of November, and I'm currently up to 554,557 words as of this minute. I'm hoping to pass the 600,000 mark before New Year, but I won't hold my breath.

Besides WriYe, I'm also currently taking part in another long-term challenge as of November 1st. The Million Word Year challenge is pretty self-explanatory: you have one year to write one million words. So far I'm keeping up with the goal. I'm meant to be at 93,160 words by the end of today - and I'm already at 93,234 before I even start writing. Oh, sleeping in until midday, how you really do eat into my writing time.

I write specific Milwordy related updates in my personal thread — titled Let Me Hear Your Voice — on their forum if you're interested in following my progress on there. It's more specific to the actual projects than my LJ updates are, and it's guaranteed to be updated every Saturday evening GMT with the single exception of June 16th 2010.

So, happy December! I knew we'd get here eventually. Now, what's on the menu for this month? I've been taking part in National Novel Finishing Month. My word count goal is 65,000 words. The goals I stated on November 29th are to finish the following three WIPs I started this year:

  1. Love Game, 1 / 50k. — 30/11.
  2. Summer's Gone, 28 / 35k. —31/05.
  3. Tokyo Tea, 37 / 35k. — 01/08 - (Fin 02/12/09!)

I'm currently at 9,117 / 65,000 words for the month. My AugNoWriMo project Tokyo Tea met it's end at 5:16pm on December 2nd. It's complete with a total word count of 37,034. This is shorter than I originally intended, but I'm pleased with the outcome. It's possibly my best written novella to date. Now I've moved onto my second project of the month: Summer's Gone. I've only written 2.5k on it so far, but just in such a short amount I've realised that I really need to re-write this novella from scratch at some point. I'll leave that for the second draft.

Now to return to my suicidal little sales assistant — Torquil Reid, Summer's Goneas he quits his job in the supermarket. Fun, fun, fun! ☺

National Novel Writing Month begins! And I want to fucking kill someone. What a great way to start the month, with a high and a low, huh? Really, it's petty. But I'm going to tell you anyway, 'cause that's how I am. I'll deal with the high lights first.

I've come to the conclusion that drinking and writing don't mix when it's cider. Only beer and wine. I planned to start at midnight, but it didn't go well. I wrote the slowest 1k of my life and then crashed. Woke up after midday, and managed another 10,000 words throughout the day. So I'm over a fifth of the way towards the goal already, and I like where Prince Charming appears to be going. Glad I put in the effort to plan it thoroughly last month. :]

Now what's got me mad? )

Now to go and work on the Christmas list I was meant to have finished by last night, oops.

Oh, I'm annoyed. Spent hours planning last month just to decide that I don't care much for Red Ocean at all. Now, instead, I've been working on novel ideas of plots I truly like to try and decide on one that will help me get through National Novel Writing Month. So far I have planned a sequel to Cinderella Boy, under the title: Prince Charming. Originally it started off as a political romance, and then I completely scrapped the political aspects, cut over half the cast, changed the main character and now it's more of a mystery/romance novel. Which, in a way, is less complicated but more fun. :3

Now I'm going to start planning my second idea: Drinking Mirrors. Title credit goes to Karen Zara on the nano board. A fifth of the cast from the original outline of Prince Charming has been transferred to this project instead. It's going to be a YA romance (yikes, my fifth something/romance since May -- what's happened to me!? Damn "Breaking Your Box" challenge), about the typical loser boy waiting months to ask out the girl he likes, finally gets her, and then she runs off with his best friend. Then throw in a fatal disease, mental issues and a transvestite therapist. :]

At the same time as outlining this, I think I'm going to return to my AugNo project: Tokyo Tea. Why? I feel like drowning someone.
