This journal is to track my progress throughout 2009 as I take presently oblivious characters through hell and back and attempt to destroy the Earth. By the time 2010 is upon us even gravity will be so giddy that it'll be working in reverse. So hang on tight if you want to endure this wicked roller coaster ride through what is destined to be the next best year the world has ever faced.

National Novel Writing Month begins! And I want to fucking kill someone. What a great way to start the month, with a high and a low, huh? Really, it's petty. But I'm going to tell you anyway, 'cause that's how I am. I'll deal with the high lights first.

I've come to the conclusion that drinking and writing don't mix when it's cider. Only beer and wine. I planned to start at midnight, but it didn't go well. I wrote the slowest 1k of my life and then crashed. Woke up after midday, and managed another 10,000 words throughout the day. So I'm over a fifth of the way towards the goal already, and I like where Prince Charming appears to be going. Glad I put in the effort to plan it thoroughly last month. :]

Now to go and work on the Christmas list I was meant to have finished by last night, oops.

Oh, I'm annoyed. Spent hours planning last month just to decide that I don't care much for Red Ocean at all. Now, instead, I've been working on novel ideas of plots I truly like to try and decide on one that will help me get through National Novel Writing Month. So far I have planned a sequel to Cinderella Boy, under the title: Prince Charming. Originally it started off as a political romance, and then I completely scrapped the political aspects, cut over half the cast, changed the main character and now it's more of a mystery/romance novel. Which, in a way, is less complicated but more fun. :3

Now I'm going to start planning my second idea: Drinking Mirrors. Title credit goes to Karen Zara on the nano board. A fifth of the cast from the original outline of Prince Charming has been transferred to this project instead. It's going to be a YA romance (yikes, my fifth something/romance since May -- what's happened to me!? Damn "Breaking Your Box" challenge), about the typical loser boy waiting months to ask out the girl he likes, finally gets her, and then she runs off with his best friend. Then throw in a fatal disease, mental issues and a transvestite therapist. :]

At the same time as outlining this, I think I'm going to return to my AugNo project: Tokyo Tea. Why? I feel like drowning someone.

Yes, I know. I'm dreadful at remembering to update this. I'll try harder in future.

I'm not going to bore anyone by filling in every single blank on the past three months. So in short, I managed to finish my janno '09: Paralysis; I also managed to begin and finish a 107,000 word manuscript for a political romance titled Cinderella Boy. Finally, last month I had a short story titled "Melody of Silence" published in Milestone: A Compendium of AugNoWriMo 2009 Short Stories along with twenty rather amazing, talented people. 

Now, for what's currently going on:

I've just finished the plans for my GothNo '09 project: Red Ocean. Red Ocean is a collection of short stories all written with a dark flare and dealing with forbidden love set in multiple countries across Africa, Asia, Europe and the USA. At the moment, the stories are:

Recently I've been working on a piece currently known as "The Story With No Name". It will have a name one day, but for now it's simply this. About a man, named Torquil, who lives life with the misconception that he's in the year 2007 living with his boyfriend. When in fact the rest of the world is two years ahead of him, where his boyfriend has passed on and the economy is crashing. And he doesn't have a clue why, poor guy.

Also, since May 18th, I've been posting fanfiction central around the lad's of Johnny's Entertainment under the name nemuresenorita. If interested, you can take a look. But I've decided that it's best to keep regular writing updates and actual work separate.

Some people are quite charming. They flirt and tease via email for over a week, and then when they finally meet in person, what is the first thing they say? This: "Who is the chubby munchkin?"

And thus begins the downward spiral that will land Yuuya in hospital within a month. Hurrah. Oh, and if you're interested it's soup he wasted today.

Managed 2k on Taboo before my arms decided they had had enough. The MC seemed to be getting rather frustrated with the two twelve year old girl's he had for company while picking at a slice of honeydew melon, so I think that he had had enough too.

Another 5k down. Character's with lacking appetites are difficult to write for. What's even more difficult is when they're not too fond of caffeine either. There goes my word-padding plans of formal dinners and the usual morning-after awkward discussions over coffee.

A third of the way through the year and a quarter of my goal done. Not bad.

I started work today on a new project that for now I'll just refer to as "Taboo". It's actually the prequel to the novel I was planning to write for April Fools (Half Jack Café), but this story is just begging to be written first. It's set six years prior to my original idea for this month, and explores how the relationships built between the characters. Mostly focusing on the FMC's potential-love interest in HJC. His back story contains the death of his family and why he hides the fact that he has a "sister".

That plan of starting something new stuck for five days. Then I gave up with it. It was dull, and I couldn't see a way to fix it. So it's now in the scrap heap.

The lack of updates doesn't mean that I haven't been productive. Rather than writing I've been using this month to do some planning for two novels: "Half Jack Café" [working title] and (one of two prequels) "Taboo". Not really much to say about them at present without going into detail. So I'll keep the info locked up in my head for a while.

I'll start updating regularly in April, where I'll try to amass a total of 150,000 words in thirty days.
